Painting by Ivan Aivazovsky, painted by him in 1864. The largest number of landscapes in the artist’s rich creative heritage are associated with the image of the Black Sea and Crimean nature.

The picture of another famous Russian classic caused a storm of indignation among his contemporaries. The work was criticized due to Repin's unusual brush with a frivolous and emotional plot. Repin just saw a couple by the sea. The artist's soul began to sing and he immortalized it on canvas.

Picture: Battle of Chesma on the night of June 25-26, 1770 The Battle of Chesme took place in 1770; this is one of the most heroic battles of the Russian-Turkish War of 1768–1774 for the Russian side. At night in June, 26 Russian ships attacked outnumbered Turkish ships - there were 63 of them.

My favorite painting is “Storm near Evpatoria”. There, the artist aggravates the drama of the disaster and depicts the shipwreck of not just one ship, but an entire flotilla moored off the coast of a seaside town. The raging sea sweeps away and capsizes warships, the wind tears the sails and breaks the masts.

Ivan Aivazovsky created not only for the sake of fame and fame. For the painter this was a special meaning of life. Once, an Italian owner of a sausage factory offered Aivazovsky a barter: he ordered a painting from him, but instead of money he offered the painter sausage. Aivazovsky accepted the offer.

In 2012, at a London auction at Sotheby's trading house, a record was set for Aivazovsky's paintings. The canvas entitled “View of Constantinople and the Bosphorus,” conveying Turkish flavor, went into a private collection for 3 million 230 thousand pounds sterling ($4.1 million).

Ivan Aivazovsky is a famous Russian marine painter and battle painter, a master of Russian classical landscape, conveying on canvas the beauty and power of the sea element. He graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1839, where he studied with the landscape master Maxim Nikiforovich Vorobyov

“Night. Blue Wave”, “Moon Rising” - the marine theme runs through all of Aivazovsky’s work. He was able to depict the effects of moonlight with incredible accuracy, and it doesn’t matter whether the moon is surrounded by light transparent clouds or peeking through broken clouds, it is always alive.
