currently thinking about the thought process that goes into designing the homepages e-commerce websites. especially for small businesses (think small jewellery store or something like that). 

is the bias: show as many products on the homepage as possible and hope that something catches the eye of the customer?

By the way, showing the products on the main page is very interesting and it attracts the viewer's attention to a product.
