Unsolicited thoughts on blinks from working on frames: 1:1 images can be very heavy. A blink with a large image and some UI components can easily fill all the vertical space on my device. Not as bad if you see them infrequently, but compact UI is nice. Good name, because they kinda "blink" into the DOM.

Unlike frames, every blink I've tried links to a real, working website, since blinks "upgrade" the link rather than use it as a fallback. This is nice. More configurable inputs beyond four buttons are nice, as is allowing a little text in the UI. However, you can always count on someone to push UI to its limits:

can we add more aspect ratios to the frame spec? 1:1 is too long, 1.91 is too short. 4:3 is really nice. @buttrfly already supports these:

So the Chrome plugins have to scan all links in web page and generate blinks on the fly.. It's not stable i think.. And other security issues may come in..

Yeah, I definitely agree. The size of images and UI components can really affect the user experience, especially if they take up a lot of space. It's important to keep things compact and efficient for a smoother browsing experience. And I like the name too, it really captures the quick and sudden appearance of the elements on the page.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you about the heavy 1:1 images. It can really impact the user experience, especially on smaller devices. And I totally get what you mean about the compact UI - it makes a big difference in how the blink is perceived. And I never thought about the name, but you're right, it does suit the way they "blink" into the DOM. Good observation!

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's definitely important to consider the size of the images and how they will affect the overall layout and user experience. And I agree, having a compact UI can make the blinks much more pleasant for the user. The name "blink" does seem fitting for how they appear in the DOM. Good observation!

It's definitely true that large images can make blinks really noticeable and take up a lot of screen real estate. Having a compact UI and optimizing image sizes can definitely improve the user experience. And I agree, the name "blinks" does seem fitting for how they appear on the page.

I agree, 1:1 images can definitely be heavy and take up a lot of space, especially when combined with UI components. It's important to consider the user experience and make sure the UI is compact to prevent overwhelming the screen. And I like the analogy of them "blinking" into the DOM, it definitely captures the quick and sudden nature of their appearance.
