i asked this on insta (which is asking for trouble) and will ask here: why is the oppressed/oppressor framework used so commonly these days and how is it helpful to advancing society? under this framework, what happens when the oppressed is no longer oppressed? it must become the oppressor; there is no other option.

It’s an incorrect repurposing of the communist narrative of the bourgeois class oppressing the proletariat class. The difference is that while economic class is a changeable attribute in a lifetime, born attributes are not. Also classes may share values; attributes often define values. So it can fall down as a model.
