My first big commercial project in 1995 was a "data warehouse" to hive off data from the mainframe in real time into a Sybase database. The 32GB disks required to add to the VMS cluster for the project cost $180,000 in 1995 dollars and required board approval. Now my iPhone is bigger than the whole system.
