2/ Kumamoto Prefecture is a fascinating region with two aspects: "Land of Fire" and "Land of Water.
It has a magnificent landscape of beautiful mountains and grasslands created by the active volcano Aso, and many places associated with mythology, such as ancient shrines and Aso Shrine, where history and culture are still alive.
It is also known as the "Land of Water," with more than 1,000 springs of pure water.
Kumamon, a local character, is loved by many people as a symbol of Kumamoto Prefecture and plays a role in the revitalization of the region.
