Listening to @justindrake on the @bankless podcast. It sounds to me that people fading the ~3% APY staking returns are underestimating / not seeing the potential value accrual for validators also becoming based sequencers for L2s in the future. I’m not sure what the hardware and slashing requirements will be on top of regular attesting/proposing duties as they exist today. But it sounds like the window of opportunity to load up on reasonably-priced ETH before the based rollups become reality is closing up fast. NFA

Maybe by the time based rollups area ready a lot more execution will have been removed from mainnet to L2s ??

Does it truly matter, though? Most of the APY comes from consensus rewards (attestations), and a fraction only from execution rewards (proposals) which is the only part that’s proportional to the amount of tx being executed on the L1. Right now none of the L2 sequencing goes to L1 validators, so the upside is total

I was speaking more in terms of hardware requirements. I'm running a decent NUC at home. Not sure it could handle more load right now.

Ah, I understand. Yes, I’m also curious what the hardware requirements will be for that
