About 10 years ago I promised myself that by the time I turn 28 years old I must live my best life otherwise I kill myself. as of today I live in a country engulfed in war, thousands of dollars in debt, my portfolio is -75% down, the last 8 months are completely wasted due to airdrops farming, I hate my boss, I live in an absolute shithole, I'm balding, I can be enlisted any day now and my personal life is basically non-existent. . . . I turn 28 years old in 2 hours.

Sunday. My only "day off" from my full time irl job. My sister calls me and asks me if I wish to join her and my nephew at the Water park. I'm in the middle of my workout thinking about the airdrop activities I have to do today, what to do with my alts, how to flee the country in the next couple of months (aka how to save my life which hangs on a thread), how to make my first million, how to fix my thinning hairline, how to get over the fact I was born in the wrong country, how to fix my face, how to stop regretting the decisions I made years ago, how to NOT kill myself in the meantime and she asks me if I'm up to waste my precious time on some bullshit made for children who doesn't know better? I realized how immeasurable the gap between us is. One seeks to enjoy life, while the other aims to save it. We're like from completely different planets.

Finally the day has come. When I was locking my ETH, the position was worth $180. Today it's worth $55. That's -70%. Basically, as expected. BUT! to be honest, ETH itself is -25% so the real loss here -60%. So adding the BLAST airdrop (which I received ONLY thanks to my activity in District1 and only thanks to this lock) to the equation, I can confidently say that eventually I barely broke even. (I'm not going to mention the fact I've been rallying and collecting the gems the last 2 months to not let the boost go to waste (but probably I just wasted all this time for nothing because District1 is LITERALLY dead).

As time goes on, I feel more and more confident about the fact that the Hyperlane snapshot hasn't been taken yet. Many compare the situation to Wormhole, but Wormhole was an outlier, an exception, an anomaly. Wormhole had their reasons to rush the drop - probably to capitalize on the raging bull market and to front run $ZRO + they already raised the money they wanted. There is not a single reason for Hyperlane to rush the token. None. Zero. The hot market is still months away from us, no need to front run nobody, there's still a lot of money to be raised by showing gullible VCs inflated metrics and the most important thing - there's still plenty of farmers to be farmed. Bet on the fact that Hyperlane snapshot was taken is a bet against human nature.

Either case will be disappointing. Considering the recent projects behavior and the current market conditions I tend to believe the second scenario is more probable. Anyway, it's important to not fall into the same trap LayerZero farmers did when they had been stuck in this perpetual state of "snapshot already was taken" for basically a year!

Why would anyone burn their ETH right now to farm airdrops if they can just buy some shitcoin and make x10, anyway? or just hold ETH and make x4 by the end of the cycle? Serious question. Btw, how many projects left where we are supposed to burn something? Zora, Squid/Bungee/Jumper, Base, Backpack, Magic Eden, Scroll and Clusters (0.01 ETH per acc). Hyperlane was the biggest "eth burner" but now it looks like it's in the rear view now.

There are two scenarios: either Hyperlane are chads (akin to Wormhole) and the snapshot has already been taken or they are just scammers who got underwhelmed by the activity and decided to boost their metrics by confirming the token (just like LayerZero did in 2023).

At first it was Polyhedra, then it was LayerZero, then it was Clusters, today it's Hyperlane - all these projects made their snapshots too early (for me). I literally have only 1 good / 1 mid acc, and the rest of my family can only hope for min. requirements and base reward. Bro, I planned to do Hyperlane as early as LayerZero announced their snapshot but there was always something getting in my way. I can't even blame testnets anymore. I have one excuse, though. I was waiting for liquidity to free up (which never did) to bridge with VOLUME because Hyperlane is an expensive bridge. In the meantime I was activating months via Merkly (not necessarily very successful in that regard, either). Add to that the fact, I couldn't expect Hyperlane snapshot to be SO early and in such BAD market conditions. I expected them to milk us at least till November. Anyway, yesterday I got so disheartened by the news, I just turned off my PC and went to sleep thinking I'm quitting and to say the truth I'm not sure I am not...

Exactly 3 years ago I was selling alts and buying yats - I got rekt. This time I sell yats and buy alts. The best thing you can do right now is to shut off your brain and average down your positions. I am risking to look like a fool but August 4th is the day when crypto bottomed out in the great bull run of 2024. August is the last bear month of this year. In September the fun begins. I bet my life on it.
