To Reign in Hell by S. Brust. Reimagining of Satan's revolt in heaven though a moral lens with Satan as a more sympathetic character, and an examination of coordination and communication failures. Brust's dialogue is straightforward and evocative. One of those that have a lower chance of coming back if you lend it out.

Also have to shout out The Road by Cormac McCarthy for the most haunting and atmospheric writing I've consumed in decades. So immersive that I actually woke up from a mushroom cloud nightmare after reading it every night before bed. His prose literally physically impactful. 😅
