Victoria amazonica is the largest lily in the world. Its leaves, up to 2 m in diameter, float on the surface of the water and can support a weight of up to 50 kg, so that a not very heavy person can sit on them. It blooms with white, pleasant-smelling flowers up to 30 cm in diameter. After pollination under water, a fruit containing many black seeds the size of a pea is formed.
