the payment use case is extremely overhyped in crypto most consumers prefer centralized payment options and the benefits of centralization (fraud protection, security, etc) will probably always outweigh anything decentralized options bring to the table we have to find use cases where decentralization is actually an advantage

I think for people under 30, paying friends in crypto is actually a good way to increase adoption. Part of the reason I like crypto is because Wells Fargo has fucked me over so many times.

oh yeah it's a great alternative for people that want it I just don't see the mass adoption of it for most people, they have not been screwed over by Wells Fargo and their bank works fine for 99% of the things they want done

If crypto was as straightforward as Venmo (UX) people would be actually excited by crypto - and the potential upside and the gamification. It’s too convoluted and too easy to get your wallet drained. (Will crypto ever have good press) and (will crypto ever be for non-nerds)

well see this is the point tho...you make the UX as streamlined as Venmo you have to take away all the decentralization aspects and even then, you can still get your wallet drained in a second with no fraud protection I'll take Venmo 10/10 over that we need use cases that are so good people will put up with a bit of UX friction if a product is really good no one has to say "oh people would use it if the UX was just a bit better"
