-3 days to PhoBIAS, my new post photography collection on @base Ballistophobia - Zahra #47 Fear of missiles and projectiles, in general from devices launched into the air. From the ancient Greek “ballō” (to throw, to pull). It’s also defined as the fear of being hit. It is particularly suffered by PTSD sufferers, in many cases due to direct exposure to the source of trauma for those who have fought in wars. The subject tends to avoid any situation that puts them at risk of being hit or exposed to projectile weapons. Think also of the collective trauma that was the advent of gunpowder and the weapons that came with it. Something totally new for the human being, a multi-sensory shock, from hearing to sight to smell. Genetically unprepared for this kind of information, sensations described with terror in history, the large, new cannons used in the siege of Constantinople, the chaos in the battle of Waterloo, the first photo documenting a ptsd during the First World War (known as Shell Shock).
