China has criticized countries that want to sign trade deals with the United States that harm its interests, and warned of countermeasures against those that bow to the United States.

China's Ministry of Commerce said that giving in will not bring peace, and compromise will not be respected. China stressed that pursuing short-term selfish interests at the expense of others is tantamount to "skinning a tiger," which is dangerous and unsustainable.

China has said it will firmly oppose any party reaching an agreement that harms its interests, and has threatened to take corresponding countermeasures if that happens.
