Whenever I come back to India, it takes a little to adjust to how everything is time shifted by +2-3 hours. Lunch is often close to 2pm, dinner isn't until at least 8pm and bed time is often close to midnight. I wonder why some cultures lean early vs. late.

weather and heat. I've noticied a similiar thing in Somalia. Everything shuts down from midday until noon, and shops are open very early and very late. Its the norm to have a midday nap as well.

the schedule in the villages here are closer to that, where there is a lot of manual labour in the outdoors. but the white-collar office worker schedule has no afternoon breaks or dependence on the sun, it just looks right shifted by a few hours.
