early FC lore: for a long ling time, there was no quote cast, only recast and recasts were weighted less than replies because conversations are critical to building a social *network*

this is the single best way to engage if you do not have a large following here. Posting frequently in a specific channel and engaging with people writing good posts is how I connected with all the people who I'm close with today.
