We're a democracy, and yet many of the founders' greatest constitutional innovations *restrain* popular will. (Can you name some?) That's why the criticism "that's antidemocratic!"--without more--isn't a very compelling argument. Happy Constitution Day y'all.

First past the poll votingβ¦ and thatβs not even a constitutional constraint, just an inane convention thatβs been held for centuries because it serves the ruling class

*First past the post We finally got Ranked Choice Voting on the ballot for the state level in Oregon. If it passes, even the presidential election etc will use it. It's a huge win, though I still prefer approval voting, even though most of the time the results are the same. https://youtu.be/qf7ws2DF-zk?feature=shared

I haven't done a deep dive into ranked choice. Are you in favor?

Definitely a hell of a lot better than "first past the post". First off, there's no spoiler effect, so no risk of (for example) a very liberal candidate coming by and draining enough votes away from a moderately liberal leader in the race to allow a super conservative candidate to win, which happens regularly. Most importantly though, it changes the tone of the conversation away from petty bickering and polarizing sound bytes to candidates working for the support of *everyone*, because voters can vote for any number or candidates. The video I posted above does a great job explaining these benefits.
