so i understand correctly, in this style of auction every bid goes to you in-full but only the winning bidder gets the NFT, so all bidders will "lose" the $degen that they're bidding?

Textbook definition of what? Thats not really how most auctions work these days So i would assume that most would expect their bid to be returned when outbid
