i have to admit im super confused. what is this, 9/11? what terrible things are people worried about?

some of this is sort of a performance that people do politically, would probably call this virtue signalling

some of it may be related to very specific policies that might impact them, their families like deportation

the affective style of politics is trauma, we experience the election of a president either with elation (gloating, talking about the victory and the win as if it has any connection to us, saying "I called it" etc) or grief. been like this my entire life

GOP is a bit different, as a lot of people sort of hate the republican brand but trump is quite popular, still a fandom though
