Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

Tipping sucks and I wish it would go away. At restaurants in the USA a grudging ok but only because of the dumb way USA restaurant workers get paid below minimum wage BECAUSE tipping was codified decades ago. Everywhere else - nope. I was at a concert the other day, bought a merch t-shirt and was posed with the tip screen! 20% on a $45 t shirt pulled from a box a foot away? Don’t think so.
