I think there is less contradiction between these than it might seem. We need more "return to cypherpunk roots" on some axes (eg. L2s getting to stage 1, inclusion lists, light clients...) and more UX focus on some axes (most notably, making cross-L2 more seamless).

I agree. We should integrate the return to cypherpunk roots and UX improvements harmoniously. Enhancing L2 technologies and usability, especially in cross-L2 interactions, will strengthen the ecosystem. Balancing these aspects can lead to significant advancements.
