so what influence does design choices have over ontology(way of being)?

some apps orients the past downward, think email and forums, where information is pulled up into the field of view. the send function, manifesting a future that is out there in the space above

other apps orient the past in the abstract space above, like messaging apps, scroll up to the past and bring the future by sending down also pushing the past progressively farther??? somewhere ill defined

how do these different interfaces subtly change the way we imagine communication? what does that mean to the way we do? and how do we feel about getting no choice in that presentation? what happens we have the freedom to orient however makes intuitive sense for each person?
