Alex Thorn, Galaxy Digital's head of research, warned that if the IRS rule classifying DeFi front-ends as brokers is not overturned, the DeFi sector will have three choices: comply with the IRS reporting mandates and accept broker status, restrict access to U.S. users, or halt smart contract upgrades and revenue-generating activities.
