“No, that’s Ether on Optimism. You want to send me — no sorry that’s USDC on Ethereum. Go up and press — what? No. That’s Base. A bit more and — huh? I think that’s Ether on Arbitrum. Wait, no. It’s actually Arbitrum on Ethereum.” This is the first year where usability on Ethereum got worse.

kind of depends on your definition of usability. 2021 made it unusable for many cause of consistent 3 digit gwei; something roll-ups alleviate but the added complexity adds to an incoherence. superchain can at least abstract away most of this at some point?

agreeing. we could not even swap erc20s directly in the past. circle and chainlink are solving this enumeration of network specific stables slow slow. also, wallet/ tracker interfaces with the awareness of this fragmentation offer seamless flows. rabby, frame, slingshot etc. some bridges, too.

or what Privy as a middleware or wallets etc. like avocado do not even care what network your assets are on. this will more or less the almost accountless near future of account abstracted times—especially the ones that do not trade off self-custody and security ops.
