On a recent flight, it struck me how enduring the relic of the no-smoking sign on flights is. Despite smoking being almost completely banned on most international/domestic flights globally for over two decades, the prominent lit up signage remains on so many flights next to the seatbelt sign as a safety measure (+ legacy holdover on older aircraft).

well, you know in certain regions there will always be some sheiks who insist on smoking inside a cabin and i'm not even joking.

Yup can concur Seen this multiple times when I lived in Abu Dhabi, and it was 2011!
