I have been thinking lately that I am still quite challenged talking to native English speakers and even writing English. And also talking and writing in proper German as a Swiss. 

But then it occurred to me to maybe I’m just challenged language-wise in general. Having grown up learning to speak in a super basic German dialect which has only two tenses: present and past perfect. No future, no simple past, etc. genders very undefined with just eh/ä. And a very simplified case system compared to German. No binding grammar and not even a clear written form of a language. A lot of guesswork and trying to read subtext in an under complex language.
