own contracts is the way, artists should not rely on platforms. Basically the main, maybe only thing which rly makes NFTs useful and makes sense.
Tool focused platforms like e.g. manifold, transient labs etc. have more flexibility, but most or all also have a kind of marketplace.
Already many marketplaces and platforms were shutdown. Many won't mind, because much NFT art is likely intended for a short term, but the real collectors probably noticed it.
This also means, that the metadata is more important than the contract. Any contract can change or be migrated, many examples exist. So the NFT is an extension only a tool.
Yes onchain art exists, i doubt most of it makes sense. Or it's the only making sense, idk ๐ 0 reply
