"Tit for tat" is a game theory strategy for iterated games where players reciprocate each other's last action to promote cooperation. Cooperation generally benefits all in the long term. A better variant, "Tit for Tat with forgiveness," occasionally cooperates despite defection, breaking cycles of mutual defection.

Interesting ! Another way tit for tat could work - make the game play data public. Over time if you knew a player's game play data, you could potentially define their reputation for defecting vs co operating. Hence potentially further disincentivising defection as you would not deal with such rep players.
