Thinking about how Farcaster could eventually become a music streaming protocol... Imagine if the metadata about a song could be represented in a message, and listens would be another type of message. Clients could opt-in to support them.

Was thinking about this too Spotify api is open enough that you could create a client that could play music from both spotify and sound, obvs enabling minting etc for sound tracks

What do you mean by music streaming protocol? How would music coexisting with text casts? Couldn't music just be embedded in a cast such as images, frames, etc.?

Worth noting that Audius (Solana-based) uses a very similar model to Farcaster/Warpcast. Lots of data recorded on chain about users, plays, content etc, with an inner layer of protocol-specific nodes and a canonical client experience.

Love it! You might find what Wavlake is doing pretty interesting. They’re building an open standard for music distribution that can plug into open protocols like Nostr. Plus, fans can stream btc and tip artists directly as they listen. Some artists on there have already made $1000+ @wavlake on Twitter Wavlake.com

we chatted about this yesterday in the Austin meetup. this is the gwei. isn't this exactly how RSS for podcasts works? a hurtle for music NFTs rn is that people have established consumption platforms (e.g. spotify). Spotify can't integrate a feed in from SoundCloud but it could from RSS+.
