Today is the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history. The numbers are mind-boggling by todays standards: - 156,000 soldiers - 195,700 naval personnel - 11,590 total aircraft - 6,939 ships and landing vessels
