one thing i still think wallets need to work on is their multimedia experience. if i'm going to be collecting essays, blog posts, podcast episodes, videos, and pictures in wallet, how will those be displayed? wallets-as-galleries in essence.

I’d even argue that this problem also applies to the platforms where we mint NFTs from. I’ve seen too many shift direction or completely go offline. It’s why im not as excited to collect onchain art as I used to be

I thought OpenSea would be leading the way on this. It comes down to token standards and smart contracts, and the industry seems to have settled on a few so im not sure why these frontends are still struggling to aggregate and display all the media types properly. It's a real problem because when things break, it alienates both artists and collectors

I embraced Zora, then they switched up and completely disregarded artists. I’m not going to make the same mistake again and adopt Rodeo or all these other platforms until I am confident things have changed for the better. I’m rarely using or thinking about OpenSea. Not much has changed since 2018

i think they made a fundamental mistake by going with their own chain. everything went downhill from there.

I think they underestimate the damage caused when you ask creators to adopt a specific standard, only to abandon it later without much consideration for the artists. I'm all for experimentation, but they seem to act as though they're working with just 100 artists, and that switching things up isn’t a big deal

case in point re: experimentation: the new coinification of content. i can't help but think that this is one of those things that inevitably gets phased out when the hype dies down. (i hope i'm wrong though).
