I answered true for the semantic sense of “pure” appreciation, as if music were simply pleasing sound waves, but I disagree with the general sentiment. Music is art which comes from lived experience in some shape or form. Things can look good for the sake of looking good in the same way music can sound good for the sake of sounding good. In lack of artistic meaning it becomes appreciation of human craftsmanship and technique. Unavoidably tied to one’s experiences and personal lives.

I think this is why we clearly love the oldies more these days

I like to think that way, but it might be just nostalgic, that is to say, our own justification about why old days where better than now. I never know, what do you think?

I think age does play a role but I’ve thought about this a lot and I’m convinced that music was made with more love back then because so much was different. Take record labels for example: they used to sign artists just cuz they believed they had promising talent. Now they only sign you once you’ve proven you don’t really need them. My hunch is that this dynamic is probably producing lower quality music

Yes, but mostly drive by an an economic cycle, isn't it? You had less chances of success and recording was expensive, so you better nailed it!. Right now, we can produce at home with a laptop so there is no filter. But i am agree, nowadays is more tons of entertainment rather than outstanding work. The same with books. I would never believe than you can write a book just because you are an influencers xD. To be a writer, today means nothing. Art is fucked, no longer exist or exist in a few few cases. Most of what we consume now is entertainment, or artist payed by companies or governments. (I do not consider myself positive towards this)
