coming to like history more as i age. i always got good grades in history, but just straight up memorized them to do well on tests - don't remember much of details.

It's both more fun and memorable when facts are placed within a cohesive narrative with interesting details.

At school I started doing well at ancient history, reading extra books, etc. Then it turned into meaningless dates and became boring. Rediscovered the fun recently.
