On another note. i use Amazon reviews to decide whether to buy a book or not. Verified purchases seems a good source to me. Is there a better way?

yes, read more! i have a list of ~100 titles in audio and text that someone recommended me just write down all recommendations and go over them one by one without trying to differentiate by rating i constantly try not to get trapped in echo chamber so i use all recommendations by friends no matter their views
