One of the most attractive things about SWE is that it's meritocratic.

More so than any other job, you can test the skillset directly during an interview process.

Most of us getting paid so well want to defend that aspect of the field for now.

We'll see more SWE unions if salaries really decrease.

As long as you are having fun 😅 I have never gotten paid what you guys get paid though, and my reasoning is if I had that paycheck I would defend it. I don’t have nearly as far to fall as you guys do so it’s water under the bridge for me
