YuYu began his journey in architecture school, merging classical art with contemporary themes like gender and identity. His work bridges the old and new, challenging Western-focused narratives for a more inclusive history.

Art history revealed the beauty but also exclusion in classical works, highlighting the Western bias in "high art." Balancing respect for old masters with critical reinterpretation, he brings together personal stories and myths, ensuring each piece connects past and present.

Like any artist sharing personal work, he hopes his artworks evoke emotions. Recognizing the challenge of predicting exact feelings, he channels his own into visuals that resonate broadly. His goal is to prompt reflection and create a more inclusive, open-minded world.

One of his signature artworks, “Not Today, Bitch” (2022), reimagines Artemisia Gentileschi’s “Tarquinius and Lucretia” with a bold twist on femininity. It tackles gender biases and the male gaze, transforming the original narrative into a statement of resistance and empowerment.

He often uses symbolism, initially incorporating contemporary accessories linked to the Berlin queer scene. Recently, he reinterprets and integrates symbols from other artworks to breathe new life into classics and make old art relevant and prompt fresh perspectives.

For him, digital art's diversity hinges on access for underprivileged voices. Platforms aid visibility but often follow market trends. Despite his positive experiences with NFT platforms, the broader industry still grapples with cultural appreciation amidst crypto speculation.

His work reflects his queer and Asian identities, focusing on creating spaces for diversity rather than challenging norms. He hopes his art will remain relevant as a reminder of growth and celebration of individuality, even if its themes become outdated.
