Weekly Artist Feature: @jakefried ⭐️

Today we feature the prolific visual artist, Jake Fried. His work has been featured in galleries and showcases globally from New York to Tokyo to London and currently works and teaches in Boston.

Jake Fried was born Boston, MA, in 1984. 

He started as a painter but became an animator, captivated by the transformation of images over time.

From Jake: 

“I began my artistic career as a painter, but as I went through the process of layering and modifying images, I realized what truly interested me was the way images metamorphosed in the course of making a painting.”

His style could be described as hand-drawn experimental animation:

“My work is process driven; it is created physically by reworking the same drawing over and over again with ink and white-out, my animations are the result of documenting this process over long periods of time.”

One of his most notable projects is NORTH STAR, launched in 2023.

NORTH STAR is built on the Doppelgänger contract from @transientlabs. Collectors not only hold an original artwork from Jake, but they can update the artwork on their edition as often as they desire.

The artworks include the original animation, individual frames, and a variety of remixes. So far, there are 29 options, with more to come.
