The first film about the Titanic was released just a month after the tragedy
James Cameron's world-famous film is not the only film about a sunken liner. Less than a month after the disaster, Dorothy Gibson, a well-known actress at the time, starred in a short film about the sinking of the ship, “Titanic Survivor.” By the way, Gibson herself was indeed a passenger on the Titanic and was able to escape. She refused to participate in filming for a long time because of her difficult memories, which were very painful, but the producers of the film insisted on their way, and she complied.
The film was received ambiguously by the public - people could not understand how it was possible to make a film about such a tragedy, and moreover, so soon after it. The film is considered lost after a fire at the Éclair Film Company studio in 1914. 0 reply
