Stated preference: I want to eat healthy and nutritious food.

Revealed preference: I will eat all the sweets and snacks available to me.

Sometimes we need to help users stick to their stated preferences. It's a balance.

It's a general critique of the whole stated vs revealed preference thing. It's more nuanced than it seems.

It's clear for clickbait but might not be for other types of products and content.

i.e. I want more interesting documentaries recommended to me instead of true crime, even though I keep clicking on true crime.

That assumes what you’re being served is clickbait? Algorithm can serve you interesting good content, too. It’s more about filtering out mid content
