People love to hate on rollups and how many chains there are. How come no one complains about how many private servers exist? A rollup is just a public api server, there’s going to be thousands of them with meaningful activity. As any app gets big, there’s a massive incentive to have your own block space, with pricing and rules that you can tune for your users. A multi chain world is very exciting and probably the biggest unlock to crypto getting to the rest of the internet.

This. Without rollups, all we’d have is congestion and high fees. Sharding of GTFO

If you’re talking to a crypto maxi, the whole/only point of crypto is to remove middle men and counterparty risk. If the rollup is a counterparty, it would be a lot cheaper (and way faster) to just run a sql data are and use chainlink broadcast messages to the chain.
