i don't think we'll call NFTs by that name in the future html = website jpeg/png/svg = image mp4/mov = video nft ≠ nft you guys are smart, so what do you guys think we should refer to them as? do you think it will it always be "nft"?

Tokens? It’s generic enough to encompass the variety without over-specifying. I think more likely is that we’ll refer to them as whatever’s more “local” to the context. Collectibles, contracts, shares…I wonder how much of the back-end will change while keeping front-end vocabulary.

We won’t refer to them as anything. I’ve never once referred to my car logbook instead of the car to say that’s what I have. We’ll still say image/video/ticket. That an NFT authenticates the item will be expected and unnecessary to mention.

I don’t know. Sometimes we keep calling the things by it’s original name or the company who made it.

i don't know the answers, but i do think the fate of NFTs depends on how we use and integrate them into life. look at the camera: in the 90s and 00s, we had to distinguish if a camera was "digital". now, we distinguish if a camera is "film". for the most part, camera = phone.

digital collectable in the general sense, but there will be more specific words for use cases. Game skins are game skins whether an nft or not.

Nft is now roughly equal to “file”. File roughly means a “thing on disk” but assumes some basic functionality: you can open, share, download, etc. NFT has that same relationship, it can be many things but you can buy, sell, own it.
