I've been a domain name holder for ~20 years and there is still no near-cost, API-first (e.g. Stripe) domain registrar

I am imagining it being more like a platform, like Stripe, where you can build a registrar on top (or website creator or whatever needs domains), rather than selling them to end users directly.

My gut says there's no real market for these kind of users. I imagine the bulk of domain owners fall into one of two categories: average person who just wants a website up, and squatters
