Let’s say you want to start something new. You have 4 ideas in mind. How would you go about picking one? What metrics, categories, information, etc. would you take into account before starting?

Given some metric that you want to optimize (earnings, engagement, brand awareness, whatever), I’d pick the one that had the best (lowest) effort to metric ratio. Short-term wins, essentially. That OR as others have mentioned, if there’s one that obsesses you, do that one first, regardless of effort or return.

Also I always consider the operating costs (like hosting) because I don’t want to create a money sink. If my effort doesn’t pay off, or takes time to do so, the operating costs can kill it (unless you have deep pockets).
