What do we know about Pavel Durov and his motivations? Not much, apart from his photos on Instagram. And that's the whole problem with private and centralized platforms: - No one knows how Telegram works or who can read the messages (unless you use "secret chat," which isn’t available for Group Chats; it’s not end-to-end (e2e) encryption). - No one knows the reality of the business behind Telegram or the extent of Telegram's collaboration with states (the company is based in Dubai, don't try to convince me it isn't under its influence…). - No one really knows what motivated the arrest of its founder. But everyone has their own comment… The only conclusion I draw from this: communication tools that are massively used should not be private, their technology should be open, and their governance should not be in the hands of a small group of people whose true motivations we will never know. Go open source and go decentralized!
