Dude tried to have multiple people killed, there's chat logs, it's on the blockchain. Some of those people weren't real, at least one was. Either way this was his m.o. just after like 18 months or being the Dread Pirate Roberts. Crazy that people cheer him on.

They never even tried to prove the murder for hire in court. The way his laptop was handled was highly suspect (they claim to have pulled things off a tails install days later but it deletes everything important when logged out). And the agents in charge of his case both also went to jail for their own crimes. Also, the fact that anyone thinks someone named "Dread Pirate Roberts" was a single person is also really confusing to me.

If people want him in jail for killing or attempting killing someone, they should charge him with that. What he was in jail for was running a website and they picked his punitive sentence to scare people away. That's not how a healthy justice system is supposed to work. Punitive sentencing doesn't work. Keeping people in jail because of crimes they weren't charged with is awful.

I'm also super suspicious of their claims for how they got the Silk Road hidden server ip address. They claimed it was from a misconfigured captcha, but that doesn't make any sense. Makes way more sense to me that they got it from logs at Mt Gox or because they had access to the server because they had access to all the DPR accounts (that's my guess), but that's not what they claimed in court. It's been years since I read it, but the court case is so long but left so many questions.
