I'm looking to pick up my first wizard. Can anyone help me understand what to look for??

Secondly, choosing a wiz really comes down to picking the wiz that feels right to you. 

There are affinity considerations (the amount of traits that align to a theme). Max affinity is generally aesthetically cohesive (see below)

Fantastic plan! The most important thing to look for is something that you personally resonate with, something you can see yourself telling stories or making art about. There are also some rare traits to keep an eye out for, and as crucifore said the discord is always a great help to new wizards

I'd say give a deep look at the market and choose the one that's calling you
alphas are:
- unique body+head combo
- max affinity
- you can also gamble buying a floor wizard + sacred flame to burn them and obtain a soul, currently there's a "high" chance to get a 1/1 yet to be discovered
