Adelaide is a city in Australia, the administrative center and the largest city of the state of South Australia, the fifth largest city in the country. The city is located on the Gulf of St. Vincent, on the Adelaide Plains, north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, at the foot of the Mount Lofty Range. The city is named in honor of Queen Consort Adelaide, wife of the British king of the Hanoverian dynasty, William IV.
