it's clear that the nouns model is one of the most elegant mechanisms for DAO formation. & it's easy to imagine a future w/ many more successful forks. but i'm curious to hear people's thoughts - what are the strongest arguments for how this model *fails*?

More of a critique on DAOs in general, but the problem of self-censorship becomes much worse IMO. Since votes are public, people won't vote against things they actually disagree with due to fear of public shaming.

Wonder if you could use ZK to make some kind of private voting platform that authenticates via your wallet activity but does not reveal identity of voters on one side vs the other.

Are you talking about something like this?https://semaphore.appliedzkp.org/docs/use-cases/private-voting https://www.notion.so/0xfei/1366e16809384f51b8c6045915bbdb51?v=2944af441b7c4c2eb6a8d08861ffa199&p=0b7211f0b6e5465aa0302b653ef0614a&pm=c

It would be a snapshot-esque tool, except all votes are on-chain and the identities of the voters and the proposer are not revealed. It would use ZK to verify that each person is allowed to propose / vote and has not already voted in the proposal.

"Use cases include private voting, whistleblowing, anonymous DAOs and mixers." I think this would fit the criteria.. you would need to build the dApp tho... You have this 2 projects using semaphore: https://interep.link https://about.unirep.social
