In this world you lay out; is everyone who has a Farcaster account also intended to run nodes for each of the associated services?

Not 100% sure what you mean. 

But if I get it right, it's the other way around: If you are a network of nodes, like IPFS, you can connect/integrate with Farcaster to leverage/use social signals.
