Hi all! I have a question, what is your favorite cookbook and why? And what makes you buy a cookbook?

Looks up "eggs" > "An egg is the sun's light refracted into life." > Explanation of cellular mitosis. > Excerpt from the Upanishads. OK, I like this cookbook.

ah just followed you! thank you @giuseppe for surfacing this as an intermediate home cook i prefer "principles"-based cookbooks like salt fat acid heat, ratio, etc. bc it allows me to remix whatever i have in the kitchen and pantry, rather than having to buy specific ingredients (which as you know, challenging for a home cook who always has leftovers of one thing or another!) of course the other influence is watching cooking youtubers, and i purchase their cookbooks to support their content. my latest purchase is big vegan flavor by rainbow plant life, bc her recipes have good satisfying profiles to me despite being plant-based

Recasting for visibility. Nowadays I just search for recipes online or what's being passed down by my mother. I know there are great cookbooks out there though

Tough to pick one, but the OG eleven Madison park cookbook was one that changed the way I looked at food. To see a fine dining restaurant create such simple food made it way more approachable than what my opinion on fine dining was for years. Intentions for buying a cookbook are always to see how the team behind a restaurant and or chef think about food and through those lens it creates a lot of inspiration. What’s your fav cookbook?

I was literally going to ask a similar question, but in search of a cookbook to gift my wife who loves cooking but doesn’t like traditional cookbooks. Most of her recipes come from combining YouTube videos of dishes she wants to make!
