gm, i've read 53 books in 2023 so far, will probably crush my record for number of books read in a year (i think it was ~50?) โ aiming at 100 books this year i've been reading 20-50 books over the last 4 years consistently, trying to get to 1000 books in 20 years ama

Damn! Good for you! I canโt do this any more. The highlight of my life in book reading was when at 14 I finished entire children library in my hometown and I was allowed to move up to the adult one 2years ahead and begun reading shit that I shouldnโt have ๐ซฃ

My question for you is how do you find books? The biggest issue that I have rn is that it takes too long to find good books that I for sure want to read (Iโm talking fiction) so what I do is that I read everything by a certain author once I find an author that I like but I always run out ๐ซ

i love hard sci-fi and there're always lists "best hard sci-fi" on the web :) for non-fiction i have a running list of recs where i add books rec'd by anyone in my env

I love sci-if as well but unfortunately I find most books are terribly written (I blame my writing MA for that) which prevents me from enjoying most paperbacks. I had to even stop reading Lovecraft because although heโs iconic and his ideas are cool his writing style is ๐ฉ

lovecraft is boring and has so much derivative fiction that all of the ideas seem stale nowadays (they were cool when they were written) try hard sci-fi, it's different from sci-fi :)
